John Gibson, driver of the #13 Gibson Motorsports/Circle Track Magazine project car sponsored by Spray Paint & Equipment, Kinetik Racing Batteries, ADP Rivets, and Innovative Cooling Equipment battled the heat at Myrtle Beach Speedway on June 20th to score a solid 13th place finish. "Myrtle Beach is a challenging track to get ahold of," said John. "I like racing at Myrtle Beach, because it almost feels like you're on vacation being at the beach, but the track surface conditions sure make it a challenging track to race." Joining the Gibson Motorsports team this week was Jody Lavender. Jody, a former Pro Cup driver, and currently a driver in the Camping World Series, is joining the Gibson Motorsports team as crew chief. "We're blessed to have someone with Jody's experience," said Chuck Gibson, team co-owner. "In addition to being a current race car driver, Jody is also the owner of Custom Race Chassis in Mooresville, NC so not only does he have experience at these tracks, he truly understands these cars." "We spent several hours in the shop this past week and even the week before going through everything on the car," said John. "We made several changes and I think we've found some things. We felt like we had a good car, and our qualifying time was right there with everyone, but we developed a suspension problem early in the race that eventually pushed us four laps down and made the car a handful to drive." The next race on the Gibson Motorsports schedule is July 18th at Radford, VA.
